creative week:
Ceramics and culture under the Andalusian sun
Duration: 6 days
Enjoy a unique experience in a house overlooking the olive groves in Arjonilla, a small, quiet, charming village in the province of Jaén, Andalusia.
Relax by engaging in a creative activity that allows you to (re)connect with your inner self and develop your imagination.
Is Spanish a problem for you? Don’t worry, we can both communicate in English and Portuguese, and Inma also speaks German and French.
You will share a week with two local people in a total linguistic (Spanish) and cultural immersion experience, where you will learn more about the culture of Jaén and Andalusia while giving free rein to your creativity.
Duration: 6 days (from Monday noon to Sunday morning). 18 hours of pottery classes + 18 hours of free workshop use.
How does it work?
Monday: Arrival of participants in the morning. On this day, the class will start in the afternoon (3 hours). We will visit Miguel Ángel's workshop and explain the process of creating the pieces.
Tuesday-Saturday:
In the morning: ceramics. We will work together for 3 hours. We will alternate between working on the potter’s wheel and manual work with slabs, modelling and some decoration techniques. As the groups are very small (max. 5 people), we adapt to each person’s level and preferences.
Afternoons: touristic and cultural activities
For us, it is very important for you not only to learn ceramics, but also to get to know our region and our culture.
- Tuesday afternoon: guided tour of Arjonilla.
- Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon: there are different possibilities. We will carry out 3 of the following options (we will adjust the programme to the preferences of our students and the time of the year):
· Guided tour of Úbeda and Baeza/Arjona/Andújar/Linares.
· Olive oil tourism: visit to an olive oil press in Arjonilla with olive oil tasting.
· Participation in the olive harvest (Nov-Feb).
· Ethnobotanical activity: get to know the native flora of our town.
· Workshop on Spanish culture/history.
- If you prefer, you are also free to use the workshop to continue practising.
- You can relax in the garden or by the pool, stroll through the village or through the olive grove (less than 5 minutes’ walk away).
- Saturday afternoon: free time.
